| Just What is Coaching? |
The International Coach Federation defines coaching as “. .
. an on-going partnership that helps clients produce fulfilling results
in their personal and professional lives. Through the process of coaching,
clients deepen their learning, improve their performance, and enhance their
quality of life.” Those ‘fulfilling results’ fuel my passion; and the deepening
of learning, the improvement of performance, and the enhancement of the
quality of life give us some clues as to why people choose coaches.
|
| Why Do People Choose Coaches? |
Some people seek help in working on a life change or a career
change while others may need to begin a business or change the focus of
their business; still others may want to improve specific job related skills.
There are as many coaches as there are learning possibilities, performance
possibilities, and quality of life possibilities. There are career coaches,
transition coaches, life/personal coaches, executive coaches, sales coaches,
small business coaches, organizational/corporate coaches – the list goes
on and on. Coach University estimates that there are more than 10,000 people
actively coaching throughout the U.S., and 250,000 people have gotten advice
from a coach over the last ten years.
The bottom line is that people choose coaches to learn, to perform, or to
improve their quality of life.
